Work With Mazuma for Small Business Accounting
Setting up a small business is a huge milestone and something to be celebrated. But what many new small business owners don’t realise is that there’s much more to running a business than it seems.
You might have imagined that your days would be spent doing exactly what you love, whether that’s making and selling your own products or providing a friendly, tailored service to your local clients. But without an accountant, a large chunk of this time must be committed to keeping on top of your accounts and tax.
Chances are, you decided to start a business because you had a passion for a particular product or service, not because you were excitedly awaiting the tacked-on financial duties. But bookkeeping and accounts are a mandatory side-effect of owning a small business, and the more organised you can be, the better.
Thousands of small business owners across the UK consider hiring an accountant an essential monthly expense. At Mazuma, we’ve made sure our online accounting software is priced competitively to support a growing business.
Understanding the ins and outs of taxes and accounts can be challenging, especially with new requirements coming into play, such as Making Tax Digital. When you choose Mazuma as your accounting service, our qualified small business accountants will make sure you’re well aware of what’s required from you – and when the tax season comes around, we’ll do it all for you.
We’ll do more than just help you keep on top of your bookkeeping. We’ll offer monthly accounts reports, including tax efficiency reports. If saving money is important to you, our tax efficiency reports will help you to cut down on your yearly tax bill with just a few simple changes to your spending.
Free up your time and eliminate the day-to-day burden of bookkeeping.
Small Business Accounting Service: FAQs
What accounting services do small businesses need?
At the very least, we would recommend that you find an accounting solution that can manage your monthly bookkeeping, helping you file and record your income and expenses. We would also strongly recommend working with an accounting company that can submit your tax returns to HMRC and/or Companies House.
How much should a small business pay for accounting services?
As a small, growing business, every penny counts, and you must get plenty of value for money when you invest in an accounting service. It’s difficult to pinpoint an exact price you should pay, as small businesses are unique in their individual needs and goals. Our team of chartered accountants can tailor a monthly payment plan based on the services that suit you best.
What types of small businesses does Mazuma work with?
Whether you’re a self-employed individual who’s recently set up a limited company, or you’re a start-up or a limited liability partnership, our online accountancy firm offers a service tailored to you. We’ll handle the boring stuff, leaving you to focus on running your business to the best of your ability.
What are business accounting services?
Our chartered accountants offer a range of accounting services for small businesses. These include our managed bookkeeping service, invoicing software, tax returns, management accounts, payroll and VAT services, and statutory year-end accounts. You can choose as many services that apply to you from this list.
Unsure what you need? We’re happy to discuss your situation and suggest the best services to help your business achieve its goals.
Is there a minimum contract period?
No, you’re not tied into a minimum contract period when you sign up with our online accountancy firm. All you’ll need to do is pay our pre-arranged fixed monthly fee. You’re not obliged to work with us for a minimum set period of time.
If I leave Mazuma mid-way through the year, will I be entitled to a refund?
No. If you leave Mazuma in the middle of the year and haven’t reached your company year-end, you’re not entitled to receive a refund for the months of service you have already paid for or the work that has already been carried out for you. As we charge a flat monthly fee, not a yearly fee, you can simply stop paying for our service at the end of the current month.
What happens if I get started with Mazuma part-way through the financial year?
First off, you can join our accountancy company in the middle of the financial year, so don’t worry about waiting until the beginning of the following year! All it will mean is that our accountants will need to catch up with bookkeeping and accounts to get them up to date.
You would be charged for the months of catch-up that are required, and as soon as you’re up to date, you’ll just need to pay a fixed monthly price for our service. We simply ask that you have been a client of Mazuma for one year or have made the equivalent of 12 monthly payments for us to complete your year-end accounts and tax returns.
What if I need to switch accountants?
If you’re moving from your old accountancy firm to us, even easier! We’ll contact your existing accountant and ask for them to send over your records. You don’t need to do any of the chasing – we’ll handle the process from start to finish, making sure to obtain all the info we need to sign in to HMRC and manage your accounts on your behalf.
What are the benefits of using an online accounting service?
First and foremost, our chartered accountants can offer you peace of mind that your business accounts are accurate and up-to-date. You can also wave goodbye to tax returns when you work with our online accountancy company, and we’ll provide you with tax efficiency reports to help you reduce your overall tax bill.
Best of all, using Mazuma means that you can spend time doing the things you enjoy rather than stress yourself out over your finances.
What is Making Tax Digital?
If you’re a small limited company, you may have heard about Making Tax Digital (or MTD for short). But very soon the rules will apply to all businesses with a turnover of over £10,000. MTD means that you will now need to provide HMRC with an income and expenses summary every three months. Failing to keep up with this may result in fines or penalties.
The new MTD rules have incentivised many growing companies to hand their business accounts over to an expert accountancy firm. Our chartered accountants offer a full management accounts service, including handling your digital record keeping and annual accounts on your behalf.
