Product & Engineering Manager

£35,000 – £45,000 pa

Who are we?

Mazuma exists to make life simple for small businesses by handling all their bookkeeping, accounts and tax requirements for them.

In 2020 we began to create MazApp, our own client onboarding and bookkeeping platform, to streamline our processes.  MazApp has been built using a partner developer and has had a phased launch throughout 2021.  It’s a real adventure and we have an exciting and ambitious plan for the future and this is a key role in supporting our continued growth.  This is an opportunity to be part of something big.

About the Role

We are rapidly increasing the speed of our platform development so we need someone to work with our key stakeholders and user groups to help define requirements for our partner developer.  You will be a player/manager and working closely with the Co-Founder and Director of Operations to effectively deliver an ambitious roadmap of new features on MazApp, making project delivery simpler and easier to manage for our developers, clients and the Mazuma team.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Co-Founder to define the scope for features in the product roadmap;
  • Gather requirements from key stakeholders and write user stories and detailed acceptance criteria for the scrum team;
  • Lead refinement sessions and ensure that requirements are fully understood across the team;
  • Work closely with designers to identify solutions, develop process flows/user journeys and ensure all scenarios and risks are considered;
  • Fully analyse how new features will impact existing functionality;
  • Develop understanding of our range of users and their respective needs in order to define how multiple different role types interact with new features;
  • Manage support requests and prioritisation of bug fixes against new feature delivery;
  • Support the release process, including providing training and documentation where needed;
  • Assist in recruitment of internal Development Team.

Requirements & Experience:

  • Proven experience delivering complex web products, ideally multi-user type;
  • Passion for the agile process, working collaboratively with a distributed team to ensure the most valuable and effective solutions;
  • Experience writing BDD acceptance criteria;
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex business logic as simply and clearly as possible;
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented;
  • Knack for asking the right questions to correctly interpret user needs and capture details that nobody else has thought of;
  • Broad understanding of UX best practices;
  • Passion for excellent customer service and end user experience;
  • Basic knowledge of small business accounting, accounting software packages (or a willingness to learn) is advantageous.

VP Sales and Success

£50,000 – £60,000 pa

About the Role

We’re looking for a truly world-class VP of Sales and Success who has demonstrated major achievements during their time building customer bases within hyper-growth SaaS scale-up environments. Your role as a sales leader will be to create scalable, repeatable, and measurable sales processes with the right leading indicators and then hire, mentor and manage the right team of high character sales professionals that match the company profile of intelligence, curious, driven, and coachable.

What You’ll Do

  • Define and implement sales strategies for Mazuma
  • Drive execution of these sales strategies, ensuring processes and metrics are in place to hit and exceed growth targets.
  • Engage with senior leadership to unblock bottlenecks and reduce sales cycles dramatically.
  • Recruit and retain a successful and driven sales team around you.
  • Maintain knowledge of our services, tech and procedures; working regularly with partners from different areas to ensure you’re up-to-speed with the latest industry knowledge in order to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Create a sales culture to drive and optimise the use of CRM tools to create and execute on the pipeline.

Who You Are

  • You are a perennial achiever of quarterly and annual quotas, surprising those that said that those high targets couldn’t possibly be delivered.
  • Someone with immense gravitas in a customer situation, able to survey the landscape and the opportunity and have a clear insight of how to achieve the sale.
  • Someone who not only leads by example but someone who can adopt various styles with different personalities to get the job done and develop a team to the highest standards of achievement.
  • You have an ability to hire, develop and retain market-leading sales talent, which is both diverse and aligned to Mazuma’s culture
  • Strongly analytical with quantitative skills; you have the ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
  • A problem-solver with attention to detail. You have the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and have ambitions to grow with a scaling company.

Key Tasks

  • Acquisition – Generate volumes of qualified potential clients through digital and partnership channels
  • Conversion – Convert qualified clients into subscribers.
  • Retention – Service & retain active subscriber base
  • Develop – Develop partnership relationships to yield more subscribers in line with business plan. Develop existing subscriber referral model
  • Managing the commercial team
  • Preparing and reporting on commercial data
  • Presenting data to board

Partnership Development Lead

£30,000 – £35,000 pa (OTE £45,000)

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and talented creator of highly effective Partnerships to grow our client numbers in the identified areas of growth for Mazuma. These partnerships should deliver a large number of new clients and will form a core part of our sales strategy of the coming years.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the strategic deal-making effort to improve Mazuma’s partnerships offering to increase user acquisition and revenue
  • Identify, pitch and close partnership deals that bring in large volumes of clients to Mazuma
  • Lead the relationship management effort with our potential and current partners

Skills and Experience

  • A proven track record for driving financial partnerships and exceeding targets in more than one territory
  • Experience working with high volume partnerships
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant regulation and regulatory bodies
  • Demonstrated ability to 1) Construct 2) Analyse 3) Deliver new business lines / products
  • Demonstrated deal-making capability (partnerships/alliances)
  • You have flawless English language ability with outstanding communication & presentation skills
  • Excellent business acumen, communication and interpersonal skills
