Front End Software Developer

Mazuma exists to make life simple for small businesses by handling all their bookkeeping, accounts and tax requirements for them.

In 2020 we began to create MazApp, our own client onboarding and bookkeeping platform, to streamline our processes.  MazApp has been built using a partner developer and has had a phased launch throughout 2021.  It’s a real adventure and we have an exciting and ambitious plan for the future, and this is a key role in supporting our continued growth.  This is an opportunity to be part of something big.

What’s the Job Role?

We are looking for a bright and ambitious front-end web developer who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming. Responsibilities will include input into and development of the UI/UX designs that produce the visual elements of MazApp. You will work with our CTO and Design team and bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation.

We are embarking on a strategy of growth and agile product development, and this position will be pivotal within our tech strategy and delivering on our Product Roadmap milestones.

Responsibilities:

· Scoping and development of new features with our Product team

· Ownership of all front-end development tasks utilizing custom JavaScript, HTML, CSS and jQuery

· Assisting to deliver Product Roadmap milestones

· UAT and QA – Run functionality testing and debug code

· Build reusable code and libraries for future use

· Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs

· Optimise Mazapp for design excellence, useability, accessibility, speed and scalability

· Strong technical ability to develop designs into efficient and reusable code

· Identify user and system requirements for new features and application enhancements

· Prioritize software development projects, set timelines and prioritize workload

· Ownership of Technical Support tickets

· Understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues

· Bug Fixing

· Ensuring our software documentation is up to date

QA Tasks:

· Completing testing of user story acceptance criteria and edge cases

· Writing test documentation

Requirements & Experience:

· Experience working with HTML, CSS and Java script, specifically React.js

· Web Application and Mobile Application experience

· Working in an agile development team

· Experience in financial services and or accounting application development ideal

· A solid understanding of responsive design and best practices

· Code changes and Dev Testing

· Excellent communication skills

· Knowledge of HTML/PHP/CSS

· Understanding of security practices

· BSc/MSc in Computer Science or relevant field

· Backend knowledge of Ruby on rails a great advantage

· Database – MySQL knowledge desirable

Back End Software Developer

What’s the Job Role?

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Development Team as a Back End Developer as we look to bring our current Mazapp infrastructure, codebase, and processes in-house from our current outsourced development partner.

This role will involve participation in this major project, subsequent training and knowledge transfer, onboarding existing processes in from our current provider, through to full migration and ownership of the Development and Dev Ops processes.

You will be responsible for building and maintaining the server-side operation and functionality of MazApp. Your main tasks will include developing and maintaining our database layer, APIs, and other web services. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in modern programming languages such as Java and Ruby.

We are embarking on a strategy of growth and agile product development, and this position will be pivotal within our tech strategy and delivering on our Product Roadmap milestones.

Responsibilities:

· Managing the Codebase and making Code changes

· Be proficient in server-side development and optimization of data, including database creation and management and debugging

· Dev Ops – Build and release process management

· Integrate data from various back-end services and databases

· Create and analyse reliable and secure back-end functionality

· Remain knowledgeable of emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities

· Collaborate with front-end developers and web designers to match visual design intent

· UAT and QA – Run functionality testing and debug code

· Prioritize software development projects, set timelines

· Ownership of Technical Support tickets

· Bug Fixing

· Ensure our software documentation is up to date

Key Tasks:

Development

· Coding of new features and improvements including unit tests and third-party integrations

· Review of new requirements and estimation

· BAU code maintenance (library updates etc) and bug fixing

· Deployment of new releases to staging and production

DevOps

· Set up and management of environments

· Set up and management of CI/CD pipeline for releases

· Set up and management of code repository – version control, branching etc

· Database backups

QA Tasks:

· Completing testing of user story acceptance criteria and edge cases

· Writing test documentation

 

Requirements & Experience:

· Backend experience with Ruby on rails

· In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment)

· MySQL and SQL Database

· Experience with the design and implementation of APIs

· Infrastructure – Firebase and Digital Ocean (Staging and Production)

· Experience in accounting platform development ideal

· Code changes, Dev Ops, Dev Testing

· Excellent communication skills

· Database management

· Understanding of security practices

· Understanding of code versioning and deployment

· Familiarity with network diagnostics tools

· BSc/MSc in Computer Science or relevant field

Omnichannel Sales Agent (Inbound/Outbound)
