Choose Mazuma for Your Self-Assessment Taxes
If you’re self-employed, a director of a company, or you receive any other untaxed income, you’ll need to complete a self-assessment tax return. It’s HMRC’s way of collecting income tax.
Completing your own self-assessment tax return is not easy. Lots of people find it challenging to navigate HMRC and accurately document their income and expenses.
When it comes to submitting your details at the end of the tax year, many business owners end up spending hours trying to total up their figures and work out their taxable income. The GOV website isn’t the easiest to navigate, either, and you’ve probably had to contact HMRC in the past, just to find out where you’re supposed to be doing what.
When you choose Mazuma for your self-assessment tax submission, you can wave goodbye to the hard work, the spreadsheets, and the self-doubt. All you need to do is send us the appropriate documents proving your income and expenditure. Then, we’ll do the hard part for you.
Once we’ve handled your tax return, we’ll help you prepare to make your first and second payment on account within the current tax year. Saving to make payments of thousands of pounds can feel daunting. So, we’ll help you to budget accordingly and comfortably make your payments within the allotted time frame.
Failing to fill in your tax return accurately, failing to complete a tax return at all, or failing to pay your taxes can all result in a fine from HMRC. We don’t just help you with your self-assessment tax responsibilities. We’ll do all the hard work for you. In fact, if necessary, we’ll even contact HMRC on your behalf.
Remember, our self-assessment tax return service is only a small part of our monthly accounting services subscription. There are so many more benefits to signing up for a broader range of bookkeeping and accounting services.
We’re not just available to sort your self-assessment return at the end of the tax year. We support you throughout the entire year. You’ll receive a dedicated accountant who will document your income and expenses, making it easier to submit your information when the time comes.

Who Needs to Submit a Tax Return?
You’ll need to submit an annual tax return online if you are:

- Earning more than £50,000 and receiving child benefit
- Receiving property income
- Earning untaxed income
You can contact HMRC if you’re still not sure whether you need to submit a self-assessment. Alternatively, you could chat with us. We’re always happy to help!
How Do I Register for Self-Assessment?
You can register for self-assessment on the GOV website. In fact, if you receive non taxable income but you’re not currently registered for self-assessment, register as soon as possible. HMRC will guide you through a series of questions, and you’ll set up an account. Afterwards, you’ll receive a Unique Tax Reference (UTR) number within 10 days. If you’re unsure about how to get started, we’re more than happy to help.
Where Do I Send My Self-Assessment?
You’ll need to submit your self-assessment return online. If you can’t file tax returns online for some reason, HMRC might allow you to submit a paper tax return. We can file your taxes for you, helping you to avoid penalties.
How Long Do I Have to Pay My Taxes?
After filing your tax return online, you’ll have until 31 January of the following year to pay your taxes. So, for instance, if you file your tax return in April 2021, you would have until 31 January 2022 to make your full payment. You may also need to make advance payments on your bill, known as “payments on account”. We can help you to determine what needs to be paid to your account and when.
