The founder of the UK’s leading accountancy firm for small and micro businesses says SMES need to stay agile as we exit the European Union.
There is still so much uncertainty about what impact there will be on the UK economy that threats and challenges could emerge from unexpected directions, says Mazuma co-founder Lucy Cohen.
“Businesses basically need to be ready for anything now. The time we are heading into is unprecedented,” she said.
“The most important thing you can do is to remain as agile as possible during this time of uncertainty.
“Make sure that you know (and have documented) all of your policies, procedures and work-flows.
“That means should something need to change you can more easily identify it and make the changes necessary to remain compliant.
“Keep your eyes open and your ears to the ground.
“Businesses need to be engaged in the changes - not just wait for someone else to tell them that something has shifted, and they have to scramble to keep up.
“Try your best to stay informed and ahead of the curve. And good luck!”
Award-winning online accountancy business Mazuma is based in Bridgend, South Wales, but has clients across the UK.
