Lucy Cohen Nominated for the St David Award in Business
Our very own Lucy Cohen, founder of Mazuma, has been nominated for the St David Award in the Business category. The Welsh Government has recognised her for making a real difference to Wales, and we couldn’t be prouder!
The St David Awards are the national awards of Wales, celebrating outstanding achievements across Business, Bravery, Community Champion, Culture, Environment, Innovation, Science & Technology, Public Service, Sport, Volunteer, Young Person, and the First Minister’s Special Award. The winners are selected by the First Minister of the Welsh Government and their advisers and will be announced at a ceremony on 27 March 2025.
At just 23, Lucy co-founded Mazuma, creating the UK’s first subscription-based accountancy service. Now, it’s a multi-million-pound company providing jobs across Wales and beyond.
Her journey was inspired by watching her family, working in the creative industries, struggle with taxes. That passion led to 22 years in the accounting industry, breaking down barriers to financial access and championing social mobility.
Some of Lucy’s incredible achievements:
📌 Vice President of AAT (2024)
📌 Best Short Business Book Award for Forget the First Million (2022)
📌 Outstanding Contribution Award – Accounting Excellence Awards (2021)
📌 Led a successful campaign for better pain relief in women’s healthcare
We’re cheering Lucy on as she continues to innovate, grow, and support the incredible small businesses of Wales. 🙌
